Blogging Experience

Hello there!! It’s almost end of the semestre and is time to make a balance about something it was new for me: "do a blog for english class".
 Well, I don't have the habit to write, in fact, in the most cases I try to avoid writing ( I have a kind of fear of write). I don't like write as in spanish or as english, but I think write it's a good way (the only way) to practice y get improvement.
 I must say: I have poor writing skills, its my weak point in english. Having to write every week a post in the blog,helped me to practice, reinforcing forgotten knowledge and learn new things.
If I must still writing in my blog, I think that include make videos its a good way to develop and improve the speaking ability (like pronunciation).
Other topics that would be interesting to develop are interests like food, hobbies, music. I think that it would be cool writing about a favorite recipe, something about a favorite song or a favorite musician,a favorite personal or familiar photograph, a favorite place in Santiago, thing like that.

I hope the next semestre will be better to everybody!!

About one of my favorite writer : Mario Benedetti

Hello classmates!!

In this occasion I’m going to talk about Mario Orlando Hardy Hamlet Brenno Benedetti Farrugia, better known like Mario Benedetti an uruguayan writer, journalist, novelist,poet and one of Latin America's most popular, influential, and prolific authors. This man is one of my favorites writers (one of, because is difficult choose a only one).

First is necessary a little review of his biography. Benedetti was born in 1920,in Paso de los Toros, Uruguay. Son of Italian immigrants, Mario grew up and was educated in Montevideo. He wrote more than 80 books including novels, poetry, plays, and short stories. He was also a respected literary, film, and theater critic and the editor of political and literary journals.For political reasons, he lived in exile ( from 1973 to 1983) during Uruguay's military rule and later spent much of his time in Spain.

Benedetti returned to Uruguay in march 1983. He was granted Honoris Causa doctorates by the Universidad de la República, Uruguay, the Universidad de Alicante, Spain and the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain. In 1986 he was awarded Laureate Of The Internationa Prize.

 He died in Montevideo on 17 May 2009. 

If I must recommend one of his work, I choose any of his collections of short stories, because I admire and enjoy his narrative skills to capture the essence of the daily life and transform them into something extraordinary.

About Martin Parr

Hello classmates,today I’m going to talk about Martin Parr who is an important british documentary photographer and photobook collector.

I admire this artist because his photographic projects  take a critical look at aspects of modern life, in particular provincial and suburban life in England.

Martin parr was born in Epson, Surey, Uk in 1952. He wanted to be a photographer since he was a child , cause his grandfather was an amateur photographer.

Parr studied photography at Manchester polytechnic, from 1970 to 1973.

He was first recognised for his black-and-white photography in the north of England, Bad Weather (1982) and A Fair Day (1984).

In 1988 he became a full member of magnum photographic corporation.

Martin was appointed Professor of photography in 2004 at the University of wales Newport campus.

In recent years Parr has developed an interest in film-making and has started to use his photography within a different convetions ,such as fashion and adversiting.

If I must choose one of his works, I choose "Small world", on that photograph Parr makes a comical observation of the tourist who try to take a photograph with the iconic Tower of Pisa.

About films

Hi everyone,today i'm going to talk about one of my favorite topics :films.
 I don't prefer any kind of films in particular ( I give it all a chance),but I have to say I don't like watch horror films (because i'm person who is easy to scare).
 My favorite actress is Cate Blanchett, who born in Australia on 1969. She starred many movies, like "Elizabeth" ,"The aviator" and "The hobbit", among others. Blanchett has received critical acclaim and many accolades throughout her career, including two Academy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and three BAFTA Awards.I think Kate is a brilliant and beautiful actress, i like the way she play her characters and the sound of her voice (she has a particular kind of voice).
 One of my favorite film director is Wes Anderson, who also is a screenwriter. Anderson born in USA, on 1969.
His films are "The Royal Tenenbaums" ,"The life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", "The Grand Budapest Hotel", among others. I choose Anderson like my favorite director because i like his distinctive visual and narrative style.
It's difficult choose a movie, but I can say I like all the films of Wes Anderson.

"Imsomnia", Jeff Wall

Hello everyone, today i'm going to talk about this photograph "Insomnia", taken in 1994 by one of my favorite photographers: Jeff Wall. 
 This image shows a man, who is laying under a table in a kitchen and he looks panicking and sweaty. Maybe is late, because the light is on.  Probably the man suffers from insomnia (maybe, that is the reason of the title).
 I like this photograph because I think  Jeff Walls create a atmosphere charged with feelings and darkness. The position, the actitud and the expression of the man, the colours of the scene and the light ; everything helps to create a little story. But it seems like is an incomplete history, makes me feel curious spectator, and the same time, the photo can take me through that bleak feeling.

Hi there, let me introduce myself.
My name is Catalina Maltés, i'm 24. I don't like speak about myself, because when I must to, I dont know what to say.
But I will try (hard).
I was born in a sunny october's day, in santiago.
 Since I was I child I was a short girl  (but never mind, i think its not a problem. Well it is when i must reach things).
 I love cats (really really I love them). I love its purr, its eyes and its fur. Even I envy it, because the cats can sleep all day. 
My favorite place is the south of Chile ( I hope live in there someday). When I go there I like enjoy the rainy days with a cup of hot chocolate and one or two cookies (humm one or two? all the package!!).

That is enough about me for a day.
